The New York Yankees have had about as quiet an offseason as possible, and it appears that trend may continue. The Yankees and Cody Bellinger currently seem far apart on a potential long-term deal, with Bellinger reportedly seeking a seven-year contract, according to Bob Nightengale.

The Yankees have offered a reported five-year offer in the $155–$160 million range. For context, MLB Trade Rumors projected Bellinger’s market at five years and $140 million.

If the Yankees were to make no further offensive additions for the remainder of the offseason, their projected lineup would look like this:

Lineup

  • CF: Trent Grisham
  • RF: Aaron Judge
  • 1B: Ben Rice
  • DH: Giancarlo Stanton
  • 2B: Jazz Chisholm Jr.
  • LF: Jasson Domínguez
  • 3B: Ryan McMahon
  • SS: José Caballero
  • C: Austin Wells

Bench

  • C: J.C. Escarra
  • INF: Paul DeJong
  • INF/OF: Oswaldo Cabrera
  • INF/OF: Amed Rosario

While this is far from a bad lineup, it places a heavy reliance on Aaron Judge’s health and Jasson Domínguez’s ability to contribute consistently. If Domínguez struggles and once Anthony Volpe returns to full health, the Yankees could shift José Caballero into a larger outfield role while Volpe takes over at shortstop, particularly against left-handed pitching.

Volpe is expected to begin the season on the injured list after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery.
